CREATIVE JAM TERMS & CONDITIONS

Organizer: Plainly LTD (the “Organizer”)
Event: Plainly’s Creative Jam (the “Hackathon”)
1. Agreement to Terms
By registering for and participating in the Hackathon, you (“Participant”) agree to abide by these Terms & Conditions and any other instructions communicated by the Organizer. If you do not agree, you may not participate.
2. Eligibility
- Employees, contractors, affiliates, and family members of the Organizer are not eligible.
- Participants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of entry.
- The Hackathon is void where prohibited or restricted by law. Participants are solely responsible for ensuring their participation complies with local laws.
3. Code of conduct
The Hackathon is intended to be a safe, inclusive, and collaborative environment. Participants are expected to uphold the following standards:
- Respect & Inclusion: Treat all Participants, organizers, and judges with respect. Harassment, discrimination, or offensive conduct will not be tolerated.
- Professionalism: Behave professionally in all communications and submissions.
- Compliance with Law: All submissions and conduct must comply with applicable laws.
- Originality & Honesty: Submissions must be original work created for this Hackathon. Plagiarism, cheating, or misrepresentation is prohibited.
- Safety & Integrity: No harmful, dangerous, or illegal activities or content.
Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in immediate disqualification, removal from the Hackathon, and reporting to authorities if necessary.
4. Tools & resources
- Participants must use Plainly as part of their workflow.
- Other tools, APIs, and resources may be used, provided they are legally obtained and properly licensed.
- Participants are responsible for compliance with the terms of any third-party tools they choose to use.
- Upon request, Participants must provide proof of license or ownership for all assets and tools used.
5. Submissions
- Required submission format:
- Loom style video walkthrough explaining the workflow
- Proof that the workflow works (demo video or example render)
- Optional write-up (description, documentation, etc)

- Submissions must be original and free of third-party rights violations.
- Use of stock footage, music, or other third-party assets is permitted only if the Participant has valid licensing rights, and proof may be required.
- Submissions must not contain illegal, offensive, defamatory, or plagiarized material.
- The Organizer reserves the right to reject or remove any submission for any reason at its sole discretion.
6. Judging & prizes
- The Organizer reserves the right to disqualify entries that do not meet submission requirements or violate these Terms.
- Prizes will be paid out as described in the Hackathon announcement. All taxes, fees, and currency conversion costs are the sole responsibility of the Participant.
7. Intellectual property
- Participants retain ownership of their submissions.
- By submitting, Participants grant the Organizer a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to reproduce, display, and promote their submission in connection with the Hackathon and the Organizer’s business.
- Participants represent and warrant that:
- They are the sole creator and owner of their submission, or otherwise have sufficient rights to grant the license above.
- Their submission does not infringe or misappropriate any third-party rights.
- They will indemnify and hold harmless the Organizer from any claims arising from their submission.

8. Publicity & Marketing
By participating, you grant the Organizer the right to use, without additional compensation:
- Your name and profile image
- Your company name and logo (if applicable, and only if you are authorized to use it)
- Your Loom video submission
- Your write-up or description
These may be used in promotional materials, case studies, blog posts, demo galleries, or other marketing activities related to the Hackathon or Plainly.
Participants represent and warrant they have the rights to grant these publicity permissions.
9. Limitation of liability
- No Warranties: The Hackathon, including any software, APIs, templates, or resources provided by the Organizer, is offered on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
- Assumption of Risk: Participation is at the Participant’s sole risk. The Organizer is not responsible for third-party tools, data loss, downtime, or unexpected behavior.
- Exclusion of Liability: To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Organizer shall not be liable for any damages, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses of any kind, including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, arising out of or in connection with the Hackathon.
- Cap on Liability: The Organizer’s total aggregate liability to any Participant shall be limited to zero (0) monetary amount, except where such exclusion is prohibited by applicable law.
10. Privacy
- The Organizer may collect limited personal information (name, email, submission materials) for the purpose of administering the Hackathon.
- By participating, you consent to such collection and use.
- Data may be processed using third-party services (e.g., Discord, Google Forms, Loom) solely for Hackathon administration.
- Data will be processed in accordance with the Organizer’s Privacy Policy.
11. Disqualification
The Organizer reserves the right to disqualify any Participant, at its sole discretion, who:
- Violates these Terms
- Engages in dishonest, abusive, or unlawful behavior
- Submits infringing, offensive, or inappropriate content
- Attempts to interfere with, cheat, or game the Hackathon process
- Fails to comply with Organizer’s instructions or requests
All decisions by the Organizer are final and binding.
12. Governing law & Dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of the United Kingdom, unless otherwise agreed by the Organizer.
13. Modifications
The Organizer reserves the right to update, amend, or terminate these Terms at any time, at its sole discretion. Participants will be notified of material changes.
